UNIT VII. The political system of the UK. Text 1

Political systems are different all over the world. In the UK, when a political party wins a (=51% or more) of (= official positions in parliament) in an election, they become the government of the country, their (= the head of the party/ person in control) becomes (head of state) and they are (= rule the country).

The government must have (= programmes of action) to (= manage) the country. This means, for example, an policy (= for the economy), and a policy (= for actions taken by the country in other parts of the world).
