Jack Sparrow is back in an action-filled adventure that offers little new compared to the previous films.
(1) . Jack is caught up in it, and when he learns that Captain Blackbeard, the pirate all pirates fear, has joined the quest, he realises that a new, fast-paced adventure is in A swing. During the journey, alliances change continuously, devious plans are hatched and feuds frequently erupt into sword fighting. Jack cannot hide that he is B with the beautiful Angelica, and all the pirates’ men get in trouble when they try to get a tear from a mermaid. And, ultimately, is the Fountain of Youth really worth all the trouble Jack goes through?
(2) . Several scenes have excellent choreography and 3D effects. The actors are first C , and, aided by make-up artist and costume designers, the different characters appear as exciting and fun personalities.
However, the film has several weaknesses. First of all, it’s a bit long. (3) . It’s just one of a large number of sequences that are impressive at first, but common after a while. At the same time, the story lacks some sparkle. There is a lot of humour throughout the film; still, the previous films were fresher and more entertaining.
(4) . Still, the film D the question whether it’s really desirable to have eternal youth. As well as this, one of the characters (Philip) is religious, and he stands out from all the dishonest and selfish pirates. (5) . Philip gets a more central role as the story E , and he becomes a good example of how to display strength, care and love in a very difficult situation.
